Irish Washerwoman

Irish Washerwoman was one of many songs Laura wrote about Pa playing in her books. She mentioned this one twice, in Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie.

 

Here are two different interpretations of the song. The first one is very low key with a lone fiddler who just mastered the song after trying for a long time.

The second is a stage production with two fiddlers who are just incredible.

Personally I like the first one best, as it better represents Charles Ingalls version.

When I watched the other video, I didn't see "The Irish Washer Woman." You're right it is more like pa. I can imagine him taping his foot and laura and the rest of the family with smiles on their faces clapping or tapping their feet with pa's music. I didn't recall this mentioned, but it's been some time since I read the books, I think it's time to read them again. I have a whole new set of kids that come to my house now. I bet they would love me to read to them. When I read to kids - I read in full character. They really like that, plus I've noticed the kids I've done this with, when they grow up, they do the same for children.
